Armenian handwriting: proportion, joins, and readable rhythm

Build a practical Armenian handwriting routine with stable height, clear curves, and a final word-level check.

Set the body height

Give lowercase forms a shared body height and let ascenders or descenders extend deliberately. The common scale makes the alphabet feel like one system instead of a collection of drawings.

Check the same height again after a short word. Speed often changes proportion before it changes the individual stroke.

Keep joins subordinate to the letter

If you connect forms in a personal hand, preserve the identifying body of each letter first. A decorative join is not helpful if it hides a hook or closes an important opening.

Practise the entry and exit stroke separately, then add the join only when the letter remains recognisable.

Review the line from a reader's distance

Step back from a practice line and ask where recognition slows. Look for crowded curves, inconsistent gaps, or a case form that has drifted into another.

Repair the most disruptive feature and rewrite the same word. This turns visual review into a repeatable handwriting habit.
